Police: Gunman surrenders peacefully after Larose standoff

A gunman surrendered peacefully today after he burglarized an offshore supply vessel docked along the Intracoastal Waterway in Larose and held authorities at bay for two hours, the Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office said. Daniel Boudreaux, 44, of Larose, is charged with aggravated burglary, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a felon, Sheriff Craig Webre said.
He is being held in the parish jail on a $125,000 bond.

Boudreaux has been a registered sex offender since August 2001, Webre said. He was convicted of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile in December 1999.
Webre said deputies were called out to the 500 block of Industrial Park Boulevard about 9:30 a.m. and learned that Boudreaux had a shotgun he found in the vessel.
Ship owner Fred Rodolf of Trident Management Group said he heard noise while on the vessel – named the "Silent Lady" – and went to investigate. He came face-to-face with Boudreaux, who he said pointed the shotgun at him.
Rodolf said he'd never seen Boudreaux before.
"He was running up the stairs, so I couldn't see him. I didn't really know who it was," he said. "I ran up the stairs after him, and as soon as I got in the door, boom. He's pointing that gun at me. So that's when I left and called the cops and went downstairs and then locked the door (from the outside) so he couldn't leave."
The sheriff said Boudreaux went into the ship's wheelhouse as deputies tried to get him to leave. The Lafourche Parish Interagency Crisis Management Unit arrived, and Boudreaux left the wheelhouse as negotiators spoke with him.
Webre said just after 11:30 a.m., Boudreaux fired one round into the air and tried to run, but police shot him in the arm with rubber bullets and arrested him.
