Boko Haram: Army places military on red alert nationwide

The Nigerian Army has placed its officers and soldiers across the country on red alert, following ‘very credible’ intelligence that Boko Haram terrorists have concluded arrangements to attack the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, and other sensitive areas across the countries. According to the intelligence,
Boko Haram terrorists plan to bomb areas with large gathering of people, such as markets, schools, among others and they also plan to attack police stations, invade armouries to get arms and attack Prisons facilities, ensure jailbreaks and recruit new members.

A signal which was sent by the office of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Tukur Buratai, to  military formations in all parts of the country, entitled: “Plans by Boko Haram terrorists group to attack in FCT and other parts of the country,” was signed by Colonel A. Suleiman for the COAS, read:  “Information at the disposal of this headquarters strongly point to plans by Boko Haram terrorists group to attack various locations in the country.

“The targeted areas include but not limited to police stations, prison facilities, schools and market places, similarly, schools that are being re-opened in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states are also at risks, in the light of the wide ranging plot by the group to cause large-scale destruction.

It would be recalled that in recent days, the ISIS said they had appointed Al-Barnawi, son of late founder of Boko Haram, Mohammed Yusuf, as the new leader of the sect, while Shekau in a video resurfaced and said the group would target the FCT, President Muhammadu Buhari and inflict attacks on several parts on the country.
